This diet is based on the diet of the cavemen that existed so long ago. If anything, hopefully you will learn more about the foods that you eat and simply eat healthier.
Farming and cultivation of plants is actually a relatively new process for us. Around 10,000 years ago humans began finding new uses for the foods that were being eaten and changed our diets rather quickly. The human body cannot always properly digest these foods; this is why some people have allergies or other negative reactions to certain foods. Our bodies were not used to eating dairy products, grains or legumes.
Every piece of Paleo diet information will tell you that the concept of this diet is based upon what the cavemen ate. These foods are fresh fruits and vegetables as well as fresh meats. If the food you are buying has been boxed, canned or bagged then it's probably not on the diet. Does this seem that all of your favorite foods are no longer possible to eat? On the contrary, there are many foods that you love that you can eat.
When choosing meat, only buy the leanest cuts as these have the least amount of fat which is not good for our bodies. You can include liver and tongue on your shopping list. You can also eat eggs; although the Paleo diet information suggests limiting your egg intake to 6 per week. Look for foods that are high in monounsaturated fats like nuts. Nuts help to reduce cholesterol levels and risks of heart disease and some cancers. Be careful in the quantity of nuts eaten as they are high in calories.
Think about how the foods are laid out in the grocery store. Typically the fresh produce and meats are on the outside perimeter of the store so you shouldn't need to wander into the aisles. It was mentioned earlier that if the food is packaged, you should stay away from it. For most foods, this is correct. This includes soda and other sugary drinks. In fact, there is no sugar allowed on the Paleo diet.
No sugars include syrups too. It also includes many foods that are processed. Since we already know that we aren't allowed to eat processed foods, eat will be easier to choose foods that are allowed on the diet. You probably can think of 20 foods right away that contain sugar and many of them you probably consider a snack. Dairy items should not be on your grocery list either. Why? Because the cavemen didn't have these foods and this is why this diet works so well.
It is possible to lose 10 to 15 pounds in 6 months, even without increasing physical activity, if the Paleo diet was followed exactly. However, everyone is different and the weight would drop of faster if you exercised more. Following the Paleo diet can reduce health issues and weight which increasing your overall health.
